Director of Engineering
  • Location: Avery Island

  • Prepare to spice up your career! Come join us as the Director of Engineering for the McIlhenny Company, makers of TABASCO® brand products.

  • In this job, you'll do things like:

  • - Identify, develop and implement process improvements across manufacturing, supply chain, quality and R&D functions

  • - Improve efficiencies, increase capacity and reduce costs by developing and implementing designs for production and packaging equipment.

  • - Apply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process

  • - Participate in the creation and maintenance of equipment and process flow measurement systems designed to strengthen data and analytics that identify performance improvement opportunities

  • - Work very closely with TABASCO® production and facilities maintenance function, including preventive maintenance programs and predictive analytical processes

  • - Prioritize and deploy "best value" solutions that balance existing versus new technologies, new versus rebuilt equipment, and hand labor versus automation.

  • - Participate in corporate-wide projects and initiatives that require engineering expertise

  • - Build consensus across functions as project team leader on complex projects and process improvement initiatives

  • - Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing professional networks

Must-haves to apply for this job:
  • - Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering

  • - 5+ years of engineering work experience in manufacturing operations

  • - Working knowledge of food packaging materials and food packaging and processing equipment

  • - 3+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting

  • - Experience working in a cross functional environment with a wide variety of stakeholder groups, a range of employee levels (from hourly employees to executives) as well as external partners

  • - Passion for food, culture and entertainment

  • What will give you an edge:

  • - 8+ years engineering work experience in manufacturing operations

  • - Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

  • - Experience in CPG industry

  • - Demonstrated experience in applied continuous improvement techniques like Lean/Six Sigma

  • - Experience working with Microsoft products and track record of learning new systems and tools
