JOB SUMMARY Provide a concise overview of the essential function, purpose, & major objective of this job.

The Engineering Manager at TABASCO® is an important operations leadership team member that is responsible for deploying continuous improvement initiatives throughout our plant and overall corporate campus on Avery Island, LA. This individual will work cross-functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, QC, R&D and other disciplines to ensure our equipment, production processes, and facilities are aligned with the quality products we provide to our customers. This position will also participate in corporate-wide projects where engineering expertise is needed.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES List major duties & responsibilities of importance, including purpose of each.

  • What you'll do:

  • Identify, develop and implement process improvements across the spectrum of manufacturing, supply chain, quality and R&D functions

  • Develop and implement engineering designs for production and packaging equipment that will improve efficiencies, increase capacity and reduce costs

  • Apply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process

  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of equipment and process flow measurement systems designed to strengthen data and analytics that identify performance improvement opportunities

  • Work very closely with TABASCO® plant and facilities maintenance function, including preventive maintenance programs and predictive analytical processes

  • Prioritize and deploy "best value" solutions that balance existing versus new technologies, new versus rebuilt equipment, and hand labor versus automation.

  • Participate in corporate-wide projects and initiatives that require engineering expertise

  • Build consensus across functions as project team leader on complex projects and process improvement initiatives

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing professional networks


  • Who you'll work with:

  • You will develop a strong working relationship with daily communications with team members in the factory as well as IT, accounting/finance, logistics, legal, marketing, production and supply chain.

Qualifications State normal minimum education, experience, specialized knowledge and critical skills required.

What you'll need:
Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering
8-12 years engineering work experience in manufacturing operations; CPG industry preferred
Working knowledge of food packaging materials and food packaging and processing equipment
Basic knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma theory and practices is desirable
Strong leadership and teamwork skills; experience in management and supervision
Strong communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonal skills, decision making skills and strong analytical skills
Excellent project management and organization skills
Knowledge or experience of working with but not limited to finance, purchasing, logistics, operations and marketing
Ability to prioritize and multi-task as well as be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, think creatively (outside the "box") and act on innovative ideas while also remaining calm under pressure
