Job Title - Machine Operator Overtime (FLSA) - Non-Exempt
Group - Operations Manager - Manager - Production

JOB SUMMARY Provide a concise overview of the essential function, purpose, & major objective of this job.

Operates a variety of highly sophisticated food packing machines (Capper/Filler, Labeler, Cartoner, and Shrink Wrap/Heat Tunnel/Case Packer Sealer), and is responsible for running the line, ensuring production orders are met in the time frames needed. May run different machines on different lines during the work week.

- Monitors the performance of the machine to ensure it is running at an appropriate speed
- Ensures the quality of the product passing through their section of the line
- Supplies the machine with the appropriate packing materials
- Inputs appropriate production, material movement and quality control data into the manufacturing system in a timely and accurate fashion
- Tracks machine performance to determine maintenance requirements
- Prepares the machine each day and prior to each change-over
- May be responsible for coding the line and machine for the run
- Other duties in support of the factory and company as directed by the supervisor

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES List major duties & responsibilities of importance, including purpose of each.

  • Operates a variety of highly sophisticated food packing machines, ensuring the production schedules are met, which may include: Labeler, Carton Machine, Filler/Capper and Shrink Wrap/Heat Tunnel/Case Packer Sealer

  • Monitors the machine to ensure it is running properly and at an appropriate speed

  • Supplies the machine with packaging material, ensuring the material is appropriate for that production run - can shut down production line if detects a serious problem

  • Prepares the machine for the production run each day and prior to each change-over

  • Performs routine adjustments and repairs, and calls a team leader for mechanical assistance

  • Obtains and enters the appropriate code for the run, if necessary

  • Inputs appropriate production, material movement and quality control data into the manufacturing system in a timely and accurate fashion

  • Cleans and maintains designated machinery and work area around it

  • Other duties in support of the factory and company as directed by the supervisor or plant manager

  • Works in a plant/production environment - may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time

Qualifications State normal minimum education, experience, specialized knowledge and critical skills required.

High School diploma preferred, or equivalent
Physically capable to perform essential job functions
2 - 5 years production line or manufacturing experience
Capable of learning to run multiple machines
Have a team approach - always willing to help out in any area that is in need, even if it isn't your department
Be accountable for your job and tasks
Have a positive attitude
Good attendance
Courteous and polite behavior
